Dr Willi Weyer - Member of the Hall of Fame

Dr Willi Weyer was a German politician and sports functionary. Among other things, he was President of North-Rhine/Westphalia's Sports Federation from 1957 to 1987. Weyer was a supporter of Sport for All and the driving force behind the "Trimm Dich" campaign that encouraged millions of people to engage in exercise and sport. He attached great importance to intensifying sports relations with East Germany and the Soviet Union and strengthening ties within organised sport.

Willi Weyer and Frieder Roskam were the prime movers in the founding of the IAKS. From 1965 to 1984, he was IAKS President and represented the IAKS worldwide.

For his extensive sports policy and integrational services benefiting sports facility development as a whole, Dr Willi Weyer has been inducted into the IAKS Hall of Fame.
